About Us

Our Mission
The Wisconsin AIDS is a volunteer led organization devoted to raising and distributing funds to programs and organizations statewide that promote HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention and education.

Established in 1988 as part of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, the Wisconsin AIDS Fund is the only fund in Wisconsin dedicated solely to funding organizations working on HIV/AIDS issues. The energy and commitment for the dedicated volunteers on the Board of Directors, Grants Advisory and other committees are what make the Wisconsin AIDS Fund work.

The Wisconsin AIDS Fund receives funding requests from non-profit organizations providing AIDS prevention and education programs. The Grants Advisory Committee, composed of experts in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, review grant proposals and makes recommendations for funding. These recommendations are then submitted to and approved by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation Board. All funds raised, except for a small portion used to operate the Wisconsin AIDS Fund, are distributed to non-profits each year.

Since its inception the Wisconsin AIDS Fund has awarded over $2.5 million to HIV/AIDS awareness, education and prevention programs to over 70 organizations throughout Wisconsin. In 2001, an initiative began to include prevention programs in Africa.
