See RENT & Help "Fill the Hat" to Support the Wisconsin AIDS Fund!

This summer Greendale Community Theatre presents the regional premiere of RENT, written by Jonathan Larson. The musical, based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera La Boheme, tells the story of a group of friends dealing with addiction, friendship, death, grief, and, ultimately, love. The show earned the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, several Tony awards, and enjoyed a 12 year run on Broadway with over 5,000 performances.Tragically, it’s creator was never able to see the success that the show enjoyed. Jonathan Larson died of an undiagnosed aortic aneurism the night before the show opened it’s Off-Broadway run.

The show has become a testament to Jonathan Larson’s memory and now each year the Kennedy Center awards the Jonathan Larson Grant to young, talented music theatre artists. Fans all over the world have enjoyed Jonathan Larson’s timeless message of the power of relationships and love in the face of adversity and loss, and now the story graces the stage at Greendale High School’s Auditorium this summer.

RENT, the joyous, breathtaking and inspiring rock musical, is a show that cannot be missed.
